Peter Wahl studied Human Medicine at the University of Geneva. He specialized in Orthopaedics and Traumatology as well as in Surgery, obtaining the corresponding Swiss Federal specialist certification in 2011, respectively 2014. He has been working at the Cantonal Hospital Winterthur since 2014, where he has been holding a position as senior consultant since 2018.
In his clinical activity, he subspecialised in hip and pelvis surgery, particularly primary and revision hip arthroplasty, as well as in the treatment of implant-associated infections. Consequently, his research activity focusses on wear of orthopaedic implants, the biologic reaction to implants and wear debris, as well as on the specificities of implant-associated infections, particularly treatment options with local delivery of antibiotics. His research network reaches out primarily to the EMPA Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology in St. Gallen, the AO Research Institute in Davos, as well as partners in the industry.
